Caixia Gao’s Lab at the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, invites applications from outstanding candidates in China and abroad for 3 to 4 Special Research Assistant positions at the postdoctoral level.
Our laboratory is dedicated to technological innovation in plant genome editing and precision breeding. Our major research directions include technologies and mechanisms in precise genome editing and chromosomal engineering; Protein Direct evolution and delivery systems in plants; AI-guided biological molecule design and synthetic biology; and plant regeneration and precise breeding.
Our laboratory has published multiple original research in leading international journals, including Science, Cell, Nature Biotechnology, and has established a strong research platform and extensive international collaborations.

I. Qualifications for Special Research Assistant Applicants
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
1. Applicants should have obtained, or expect to obtain shortly, a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, artificial intelligence, biochemistry, molecular genetics, plant science, crop genetics and breeding, synthetic biology, genome engineering, or another relevant discipline.
2. Applicants should have a strong interest in life-science research, sound scientific training, and an innovative mindset. They should be capable of conducting research independently and demonstrate a strong sense of teamwork and responsibility.
3. Applicants should have strong written and oral communication skills in both Chinese and English (non-native Chinesespeakerwillalsobe ). They should have published research articles as a major contributing author in international academic journals or have achieved other high-quality research outcomes.
II. Responsibilities for Special Research Assistants
1. Special Research Assistants should independently conduct innovative scientific research or undertake important research tasks within the group.
2. Special Research Assistants should independently apply for, or assist in applying for, national and local research projects, and participate in research project management.
3. Special Research Assistants should assist the research group leader in supervising graduate students.
4. Special Research Assistants should actively participate in the group academic activities and international collaborations.

IV. Compensation and Benefits for Special Research Assistants
1. Salary and benefits will be provided in accordance with the relevant policies of the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and will be adjusted dynamically based on research and work performance. Outstanding candidates will receive preferential compensation.
2. Candidates selected for the national Postdoctoral Innovative Talent Support Program(博士后创新人才支持计划), the Postdoctoral International Exchange Fellowship Program(博士后国际交流计划引进项目), or the Chinese Academy of Sciences Special Research Assistant Program(中国科学院特别研究助理项目) will receive an additional talent allowance of RMB 5,000 per month during the funding period.
3. Upon completion of the employment contract, eligible candidates may apply for relevant talent programs offered by the Chinese Academy of Sciences or the Institute. Those who meet the applicable requirements may also apply for permanent positions within the Institute’s authorized staffing system.
